i have a squicking from my ford taurus 01, i have replaced all pullys but the alternater and a/c compressor. It is still squicking.. what could it be?
Take a bar of soap and hold it to the edge of all your belts. Let the belt chew into the soap. If your squeak goes away, that will tell you that it's just a belt and not a pulley. If the squeak still persists, you could try and spray a little bit of WD-40 onto the center of the pulley to see if it quiets down at all. If it does, you'll know which pulley needs to be replaced.
I will deff try that today. I have a new belt. I am going to put it on today. anyways. I hope it fixes it. Thank you very much!
I have another question. Can a belt squeak be a lite squeak? That can go away after a while of driving, also if it is a pulley that is bad wouldn't the noise not go away.. ever...?
Yes..if the pulley becomes dry it will squeak until replaced.
