If temperature gauge is registering the car is over heating but the engine is not hot enough to be that of an overheating engine, what could be the problem?
I have a 2002 Honda Civic LX. The check
engine light came on shortly after I bought,
with no problems. Today it started to over
heat and cooled down when I filled the
coolant. But the coolant is not leaking and
the gauge registers that it is over heating
but it doesn't seem to be.
So the car is overheating but not enough to overflow. Do not continue to drive the car until the overheating problem is fixed as you don't want to blow a gasket or damage the engine. Could be as simple as a fault thermostat or water pump. Have a shop check it out, also check why the check engine light is on and scan for codes.
