I notice that my 2002 Honda Accord had some kind of a small leak. I took it to the dealer for regular seasonal maintenance and mentioned the leak. They checked and said I needed a new oil pump and possibly a new rear main seal. The cost would be $2500. I checked on symptoms of bad oil pump and leak was not one of them and no one that I have talked to has ever even needed to have an oil pump replaced. I am a 68 year old woman and I just don't know if I'm getting correct information about this leak. Any thoughts on this situation?
I agree, if the car is running fine and the pressure good, no oil pump. But the rear main seal might be leaking, which is fairly common. Find another mechanic in your area to give you an estimate. If it's a small leak, you might be able to let it go for some time, just keep your eye on the oil level.
