I just got a new subaru impreza 2016 and i love it but want to replace the engine with something faster, can i do that?

for real? Why didn't you just purchase the WRX STI? Probably cheaper in the long run.

well I was in love with the impreza and they didnt have an sti that i wanted....what do you think? will it be that much?

With money and time you can do anything. Search online for some WRX forums and ask there. I'm sure some have done what you want to do. Cost of new engine, maybe a trans, some modifications, labor, etc, I'd be guessing at least 10K? Then sell your current engine to recoup some cost. Hard to say.
