I have a 2003 Honda Element with 245K miles, and the body is in perfect shape. We want to keep it going - can we just pop in a low mileage CRV engine and drive it another 240K miles?
You could. But think about this, you'll need to freshen up the suspension of course and keep up with the rust, and other components that wear, maybe the seat foam, etc. but if you have the money to do it, I don't see why not. Most drivers like to get newer cars and have a problem putting money into an older car. You will never recoup the money you put into it as the vehicle is depreciated already. But you won't have car payments. Up to you. Only thing I see if finding certain parts into the future.
