how to diagnose a 2005 ford e150 electrical mystery?
My ford e150 has developed a strange habit of stuttering the electric door locks when starting the engine. Sometimes the starter will not turn over right away and will behave as if the battery is low / close to dead but then seconds later rev the engine to life powerfully. This is intermittent but very regular. I have tested the battery and it is fine. I suspect that the starter and solenoid are fine and the problem lies in a short or bad ground...?
Anyone have experience with this kind of behavior and know where i can start looking?
I believe your on the right path, that indeed sounds like a ground problem. The first place to start is the main ground from the battery to block and battery to frame, then engine to body, those are the major grounds, then you can start checking the ones inside the vehicle, as there are quite a few of these it would be a good idea to purchase a shop manual with a good wiring diagram and componet locator.
