All of a sudden my 1999 Civic dx coupe started to knock after turned on and when moving the shift from Parking to Drive. I realized that the shift indicator (D4) in the dashboard was flashing and when I start driving that car only rides in one shift, probably third. So, in other words, transmission is not working properly or as it should:1st, then 2nd, then 3rd (I don't know if the car has a 4th shift).
The car is still driveable but just in one shift. D$ in the dashboard is still flashing!!!
Any input?? Might be a sensor??? the computer?, a fuse???
Other than this this 155,000 miles is working great!!!
The flashing "D" is basically a check engine light for the transmission. So yes, it can be anything from low fluid, a sensor or transmission internal parts failure. Your going to need to take it into a shop and have them pull the trans code that will tell you what the issue is. With the vehicle not shifting in all gears, it doesn't too good at this point. Let us know what you find out.
