Asked by Apr 16, 2016 at 06:09 PM about the 1998 Honda Civic Coupe EX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1998 honda civic ex and its been
dying on me. Lights and battery still stay
on but the engine just completly shuts off. I
would usually have to wait 5 to 10 min for it
to start up again. Some people say its the
fuel pump and some people say its the
distributor. Im going for the distributor.
What do you guys think?

It could be that your fuel system is clogged. Do you often run your tank on empty? This can cause junk from the bottom of your tank to clog up the fuel lines and filters. Does it sputter as it dies slowly, or does it just stop all of a sudden. if it is the later, it might be something electrical. A fuse or something may be out.
