Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car was stalling when we were stopping but ran well going down the road. The other day it stopped running all together. Any ideas why?

Bad plugs/wires/cap/rotor? Has it had a tuneup recently. It could have jumped time for some reason which would call for a timing belt, a fuel injector could be going bad, a belt pulley could have seized or gone bad causing the serpentine belt to shred and the alternator to stop working, there could be a vacuum leak at the intake manifold. It's so hard to pick one........you really have to see the car to diagnose it.....

Distributors are notorious for dying on hondas. Pull a plug wire wire and stick a spark plug in it, and ground it. Crank the motor and have a friend watch for spark. No spark, bad distributor.

Check your Main Relay. They tend to go bad on old cars... It sounds like it could be your problem. I'd replace it now to eliminate possible problems. it'll be under your dash by your steering column (pretty high up... i'd get a DIY page from honda-tech to help) and it's a cheap fix.
