Focus 2016 - HID conversion kit

Asked by Oct 21, 2016 at 07:49 AM about the 2016 Ford Focus SE Hatchback

Question type: Car Customization

Hey,
I've bought a HID conversion kit with the 'garentee'
that it is road legal and it's just plug n play. I took
the headlight off as told and it was fairly easy to
see that it would require someone with more
knowledge about cars than I to complete the job. I
called an auto electrician to be told that, like a lot
of new cars these days, even replacing the bulb it's
self without any other altercation, would require
going to the dealers.

Can anyone elaborate on this or is this guy just
talking shit?

Thanks!

On some cars accessing the back of the headlight means removing a bunch of parts. A competent shade tree mechanic should be able to replace the bulbs but if you are not comfortable with it then have a pro do the job.

I've had the headlight off myself as well as the actual casing of the bulb mount. I've even had the original bulb out completely just to check the compatability with the HID unit I'm wanting to install. I don't suppose there's anything I need to know about HIDs before I get them installed? Thanks!
