Can I fit P255/70R17 tires on a 2016 cherokee trailhawk?
The stock tires are a p245/65R17 and currently I have
p245/70R17 on the vehicle and I can stick a 3/8 allen key
thru the areas of tightest clearance with the wheel at 45
degrees. I can do mods when I get home to make more
room but I don't want the tire shop to not let me leave
because of rubbing.
I can tell you that they will rub if you only have 3/8 clearance now you won't have any when those tires are installed. When did tire shops get that power? They can whine and complain and even pull the warranty, but it is still your rig they cannot prevent you from driving it home for repairs. The last time I was in for tires they said I needed rear brakes and quoted a redicliously high amount of money to do the job, I said are you kidding for that price and said no, you would think I just committed a crime by the way he looked. I took my rig home and double checked the brakes myself, turns out I still had 4/32 of pad left so it didn't need done right then and there. Don't let them buffalo you.
