2016 canyon will not shift from drive to park, WHY

Asked by Apr 21, 2017 at 11:31 PM about the 2016 GMC Canyon SLT Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Shift lever went to park but it is still in drive according to light and engine.
Once turn off engine it will not crank back because the drive is still engaged.  
HELP-stranded!!!

Sounds like the shift lock solenoid and or the mechanism is broken. I would have it towed to your local GMC dealer for repair as your probably still under warranty.
