serpentine belt broke mustang v6 01

Asked by Aug 05, 2016 at 04:51 PM about the 2001 Ford Mustang Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

As I was driving on the freeway the serpentine belt
broke and stuck in the idel pully. The battery light
came on and power steering stopped. I drove to
gas station since I was in the middle of no where.
The needle only passed the center point but no
where near red as I had already stopped. However,
water overflow from the tank was actually warm
and tank full of water but now it is empty!!! What
happened and radiator seems empty too but I do
not see any leaks. The car still starts and I am
replacing the pulley and belt.

The water pump is driven off the serpentine belt as well, so the car overheated. Get the oil changed and replace the coolant and bleed the system of air and you should be back to normal.

Now, battery seems to die but i did drive the car! Any ideas why?
