Trax 2016 Radio/electrical issues

Asked by Oct 17, 2019 at 05:50 PM about the 2016 Chevrolet Trax LS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought my Trax in Feb. 2018 and everything worked fine until the first heat
wave of the summer. The steering wheel radio controls stopped working (cruise
was fine), and the temperature gauge stopped reading the temp. Occasionally it
stopped working altogether, but then would work after restarting the car. After it
cooled off again everything worked fine until this year. The first heat wave rolled
around again and the radio stopped working, my husband and I tried pulling the
radio fuse this time and now my radio, compass, steering wheel and sometimes
blinker noise won't work AT ALL. No matter how many times the car is restarted
it won't come on. Recently my battery also started to drain and after my car sits
for a day or so without driving it it has to be jumped (very selective when it
decides to die). We had the battery tested and there were no issues. Does
anyone have any solutions to this or ideas on what could be the issue? We know
it's not a fuse problem and we know it's not a bad battery. Help!
