2001 ford focus not starting always

Asked by Jun 20, 2017 at 08:42 PM about the 2001 Ford Focus SE Wagon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My ford focus is a 2001 wagon I had everything
replaced including battery alternator ignition
thermostat fans etc. I had the battery the
alternator and a engine check machine plugged in
and everything is good. The car seems to not want
to start after A.C. is used or when I leave it on and
if I wait a few minutes it'll turn on I always get the
battery and lights to come on at the least for while
I was jumping it and it was working but now a jump
won't fix the problem. And it doesn't not always
start it after using it it happens after sitting over
night as well. I had the battery connections
cleaned too. After i get it to turn over occasionally
it will make a scraping type noise for a second. I
don't know what it could be

Take it to a real mechanic, sounds like you got a lot going on there

try and rmove some of the main fuses under dash and relaysunder the hood and spray some wd40 to the contacks and gihhle them around... have you checked the power to the little ign.wire at the solenoid..do you get 12 volts there with the key on start..turnover...also the netural safty switch ok ..youtube has a bunch of stuff...>/www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhK8bRWbsAY

Lot's going on for sure, starter engagement grinding a little, now not starting at all. Jumping often can heat up the cables depending on how much cranking on it until it started, fry a fusible link. Could you smell fuel when you were trying to start it but no start? Youtube would be your best bet at this point , if you are trying to go at it yourself. Keep us posted .
