I want to improve gas mileage on a 95 GMC 350 5.7 Vandura Starcraft conversion (weighs under 6,000 lbs)
Just bought the above and only get 12 mpg. Came with stock parts. I have done the usual, new spark plugs, wire, hoses, air filters but am wondering what more I could do to increase mileage. I had hoped to take a coast to coast trip and back in it.
Well not much more, brand New the vehicle is listed at 12MPG avg. 11 city 14 highway. Try adding 1-2 more pounds of air to the tires to see if that helps some. You don't want to go too high to decrease you handling. You won't see a drastic change mind you.
I will try adding some air. I might get the 14 now on the highway after the tune up (one can always be optimistic). I was hoping you or someone else would have a "chip" or know of a different exhaust set up that might help. The Van is in good shape, clean, has low mileage, and is very quiet running. I will just have to pay the dollars for gas it appears. At least I saved dollars in purchase....just might not be able to use it as much as I wanted.
