95 safari 420,000 kms, Will not go into 1st gear Only get 2nd if I shift manually 3&4 gears are fine.Driving like this for months. Who knows what's wrong?

The problem maybe caused by a faulty TV cable.

Thanks nosyboss. I know it as the kick-down cable, but I'll give that a try.
