1996 GMC Yukon, strange sequence of events

Asked by Oct 25, 2015 at 01:19 PM about the 1996 GMC Yukon SLT 4WD

Question type: General

We have a 1996 GMC Yukon. At first it was
stalling a lot, but would start right back up.
One day it just wouldn't start. My fiance
tapped on the starter while I turned the key
and it started right up. Assumed it was
starter. We planned to change starter, but
then the truck starter making a horrible
sound, so I turned it off and took the key
out, but it wouldn't turn off! Had to
disconnect the battery to turn off. Any ideas
what could cause this?!

Starter solenoid stuck closed, most likely caused by the starter motor drawing too much power, replacing the starter assembly and the relay in the power distribution box under the hood should cure the problem. HTH

Thank you so much!!!!
