Instant Market value

Asked by Jan 12, 2017 at 04:34 PM about the 2015 Toyota Sequoia Platinum 4WD

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Is the instant market value based on the location of the vehicle or the location
of the buyer? The vehicle I am interested in is $4200 over the instant market
value. I'm in PA and the dealer is in CT and the salesperson is telling me the
difference is due to the fact that we are in different states. Just wanted to see if
this was accurate.

So local market as in where the car is being sold?? Or local as in where I live?? In other words, does the IMV take into consideration the location of the vehicle and the zip code it is being sold from??

We are users like you. You can contact Cargurus themselves by using the "contact us" at the bottom of the page for more info. The way I understand it, is the number is not an absolute. It's based on the ads selling prices of similar cars in an area. The IMV gives you an idea if the selling is price is too high or low. It doesn't take into consideration of things like condition and other little things. So mainly price, and mileage. The ultimate price you end up paying for a vehicle is the agreed amount from the seller. If you think the seller in CT is too High, and you don't want to drive up there to test drive it, find another. BTW: CT is a higher priced market than in PA. The whole south west end is basically a suburb of NYC.
