Ive got a 2001 ford escape xlt all wheel drive can i have 255 70 16 on front and 245 70 16 on back without it messing with transfer case?

If you run mismatched tires you will eventually have transfer case trouble, there is also a concern with front to rear torque command that is handled by the computer so you may get a check engine light if you do it. If you still want to take a chance you need to measure the circumference of the tires, all of the tires should have the same measurement around the tread surface, My opinion is don't do it just to be safe.
