2001 ford escape transmission issues

I cant get it to move in any gear. Ive replaced the
range sensor and every so often it will move a little
in reverse but nothing in drive but yet im not getting
any grinding noise or anything else associated with
a bad transmission

Might be time for a rebuild.

Is that normal for them to go bad like that without making any noise?
