my 97 gmc yukon has to be put in reverse to engade the 4x4 and it seems to want to kick in and out of 4 weel drive
Sounds like shifter linkage. At least thats the first place id start looking.had that problem with older chevs 80s models
Push putton or lever 4x4?
Do the lights on the buttons switch from 2 to 4wd? or does it stay lit up on 4wd and feels like is disengages? That system has an electric motor that changes transfer case gears, your push buttons, a TCCM (tranfer case control module), and a vacuum diaphram that engages the front axle. The vacuum system tends to fail due to broken lines or diaphram
The light terns in at first then light terns off and seems no kick out the 4x4 and it also whont go in to 4 hi at all
So you have 2hi and 4lo? Never 4hi? If so this is a sign thay the shift motor is bad.
