Why wont my 1997 GMC Sonoma start.
Hi my 1997 GMC sonoma has been giving me problems. I was driving one day and then the engine shut off completely. The battery however was working fine and all lights were turning on. I got it towed home and used some Carb spray and it started so I assumed it was the fuel pump however the next day I decided to test it to see if it turned on and it did. I was able to drive it a few miles and it worked fine. Later that day the same thing happened it wouldn't start. I wanted to know what might be wrong with my truck and how I can get it fixed. Thank you for taking the time to read this about my problem I am having.
Yes,you are on the right track, check fuel filter,s and change your fuel pump, fuel pump,s are funny win they go bad, work when cool then get hot and stop, change fuel pump
Sorry I forgot to mention that when it first went out the battery and check gage light came on, but they both are working
Is the check engine light on?
Hi no the check engine light is not on
I agree with TST. Change your fuel pump. Sometimes fuel pumps just quit and other times it's a slow death. Because it would run on the carb spray tells us it's a fuel problem. HTH. -Jim
It will turn on once a day without the carb sprayer could it still be fuel pump
Yes,from what you posted,i think that,s your problem.
Yes, definitely. -Jim
