Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I am considering a 2015 Subaru Outback for $19995. It has an R title and I was
wondering if the price should be lower because od that.

I wouldn't buy an R title, but yes, you should pay less no matter what car it is.

I was told the vehicle had been stolen. The dealer, who has a good reputation, puts a 5 year warranty on it. I will ask for the history report. Thanks

You can get an honest car with an r Title but you are never getting anything back in it. It will always be almost worthless in the private market. And if you trade it in they will ding you at least 50% wholesale. So that 20k car just became an $7500 car if you total it or trade it in. Buy gap insurance

It's not THAT bad; but $20k is way too high for a '15 Ltd 2.5i anyway. Stolen vehicles don't cause "rebuilt" titles in Mass, so I'm curious to see why this one got one, and would suspect that it suffered unibody damage in a crash. As such, its value is quite variable. This is a specimen for a Subie-pro who wants to own it permanently, as resale is difficult at a reasonable price. Caveat emptor! Ern TSG/B
