Does my new 2015 Dodge Dart SXT REALLY ONLY accept 100% synthetic oil?
Just purchased a 2015 Dodge Dart right off the lot last Nov. First brand
new car. Has bumper to bumper warranty and all that, course the
payments are outrageous but we got it for 0 down on not great credit...
We've put just over 6000 miles on it in 4 months due to trips to relatives,
and now the oil life display on the car says 9%. before we could get it
changed, the Check Engine light also came on, and my boyfriend says the
engine fan is running more frequently than it used to, but the car never
gets hot far as the temp gauge. Just trying to see if A) the engine light IS
related to the cars thinking it needs new oil, and B) whether or not the
dealer mechanic is lying when he says that its so new it ONLY TAKES
100% synthetic, "high performance" oil. Cause those oil changes are 70-
85$ as compared to the half synthetic blend at 40-55 or regular 29.99 oil
changes!! if we could save money and it not actually affect the cars
performance, I'd love to know before we spend that on friday!
Check your owner,s manual it will tell you the type oil that is recommeneded, but if car has was started with synthetic oil,it will have to continue,or it will damage the engine,as far as engine light, should have nothing to do with the oil, unless it is leaking it,tell them to run a scan on the computer to know the issue with the engine light, all so check your radiator fluid to be full and oil now, not later.
I have a 2015 Dodge Dart and I had this EXACTLY same problem. I let my cousin scan my car though and the code "P1D73" Came up. Which told me the CEL was on AND it had something to do with the shutters. I eventually lifted the hood and stuck my arm in the little hole at the very front of the car and lifted the lever at the bottom to open my shutters. That was the problem. My engine wasn't getting any air and it was causing my fan to run loudly and often. Now the oil, yes, I use synthetic and I wouldn't advice changing to anything less. Hope this helps!
Lol *exact same problem. But I'm sure you got it. Good luck!
