Slipping means the trans clutches are worn and or low fluid from leaking/blowing as you say. Nothing you can fix in your driveway. Sounds like it's time for a transmission rebuild or replacement. Have a local shop check it out for you. Consider yourself lucky it got this far being 19 years old.
