Battery light flickering is tell you your alternator is not charging correctly. The hesitation can be attributed to your spark plugs or coils. When was the last time they were changed?

Did you use a Dielectric Grease in the end of each Spark Plug Boot? - If it's equipped with a 3.0L or 4.0L V6 (especially the 3.0), check the PCV system. Don't just look at it, remove and inspect each tube and hose. They tend to collapse and create a huge vacuum leak - especially at the elbows. You don't need a special tube to repair it, a formed heater hose will do the trick.
