Low oil pressure warning
Bought 2015 Chevrolet Malibu in May, 2016. 30,000
miles. Within weeks, low oil pressure warning
came on. Pulled over, called dealership and they
towed it, kept it a few days, said it was probably
sensor. Within days, I was back at dealership with
same issue. Now it's November and this is the 5th
time they have had it. They continue to tell me that
they can't find a problem. Now I'm in the position of
warranty expiring at 36,000. Guidance please
Since you have documented the problem they are on the hook for the problem. I would complain directly to GM though.
Thank you so very much. I appreciate your help. I will contact GM
I believe this is a known issue and a technical service bulletin (TSB) has been issued. Definitely contact Chevrolet Customer Service on this. I remember reading somewhere about a solenoid in the engine that gets clogged and causes the oil pressure to drop. Sounds like your dealer doesn't like doing warranty work. Also, double check your warranty booklet. You may be covered by the powertrain warranty for 5 years/100,000 miles! HTH. -Jim
Yup, just checked, powertrain warranty is 5 years/100,000 miles! HTH. -Jim
Thank you so much ~ It's reassuring to know I'm not being unreasonable. The service adviser at the dealership I've dealt with has begun to make me feel like I should be apologizing to him for him not doing his job. Thank you again. I appreciate it ~
You're welcome. Glad to help. Let us know how you make out. -Jim
