issues with my 98 jimmy
start the truck gauges dont work i get at least 20 yrds away from the driveway gauges
come back on and the tranny only allows me to drive in 2nd gear. now sometimes ill
crank the truck and gauges start working then she runs like a champ i need to know what
it is and try to fix it but hard to diagnose
I would replace the gauge cluster. When these fail, it will not shift correctly. The computer takes info from your gauge cluster in order for it to shift. When your cluster fails, the ECU is getting no info which is why it fails to shift the way it should. Check Ebay or your local salvage yard.
On a 98 jimmy the range selector is on the transmission. The cluster has nothing to do with operation. Hell l, I drove a 96 without one. Maybe on the newer silverado or something but not on these. Sounds like a computer problem or a loose connection
