99 suburban will not move in drive but a little in reverse
I blew my rear end. I hear loud break noise due come from
rear of the truck. So I got the truck towed to the house. I
recently swap out my rear end with another one from a
wrecking yard. Then guy tell me it's the transfer case so I
swap that out too but the truck is still stuck and will not
move. I need help.
I am very confuse and I have sunk a lot of money and
time. I need help. What fuck is wrong with my truck?
I think its your trans. If it was the rear end you could of put in 4wd mode and the front would of tried to drive and may have unless the rear was locked up. If its the transfer case the rear would of pushed the truck neither would have the effect of no forward movement but a little bit in reverse without at least trying too with the other rear or front turning meaning one or the other was locked up but the trans not working means neither rear or front will work, so its your trans.
whats is normal rpm when the truck is in? P? N? D? 3? 2? 1?
Aye boss it's not the transmission because the truck moves in forward and reverse. But after I hit the gas pedal it's moves then come to a haulting stop. I also feel the truck shifting in each gear and rpm drop from n to d,3,2,1. RPM: P,N: 800 D,3,2,1:700 The rpm level are normal and fine after doing a little research. The transfer case also makes a funny noise when I shift from drive to reverse. I put in a used transfercase from 1998 suburban after replacing the rear ended. Now when I shift the truck from d to r. The transfer case is making a funny noise.
Disconnect both the drive shafts and see if the noise is present, if not then put the rear drive shaft in and see if the noise returns if not remove it (rear again) and install the front drive shaft and see if it returns. This way you can narrow down if its trans noise or front transfer or rear diff noise, and I would also make sure the front transfer case does not need something while its out if by doing the test above narrows it down to the front making the noise transfer case or front diff, it may be the front differential and not the transfer case.
Did you install a rear axle with the wrong gear ratio? If the truck is in 4wd and you have a mix of gearing, front and back the truck would not want to move far.
No it's the right gear ratio it's 3.73. The front drive shaft has already been disconnected and vehicle only move in drive and reverse. Only feel when transfer case makes this odd noise. It's not a smooth shift it's feels like but no error came after I installed the used transfer case at a shop. $500 down the drain. I need to get rm tc before I point towards the Transm. Because the shift feel fine and you see the fluid color up top in the photo. I feel the trans doing it job by engaging the gears from p to n and to d and so on. I research the internet and no one has a solution. I have been working with this problem for a while.
Most likely a bad T-case then.
Rear end was swap out not rebuilt.
So if the tc was shot then truck would move not. It feels like the truck is playin ping pong with me. It can only forward and backward just a little bit but if I cross that white line I might break something.
Will not move
What happens when its in neutral will it role around?
No it will not role around in neutral. I feel it goin forward a little but nothing much.
Jacked up all 4 corners off the ground, see which will roll front or back in neutral by hand not motor, I think you said the front drive shaft was already out. If the front will not roll then remove the transfer case and try to roll by hand the front wheels. If it still will not roll your front diff/axles/bearings have issue, if it does roll then transfer case is subject (something in it) or not hooked up correctly. If the rear does not roll take drive shaft out try to roll it again if it rolls then start up truck and go threw the gears with truck still off the ground no drive shafts connected to it, see if the problem is still there if so its you trans, if rear diff did not roll there is a problem with the rear diff or axles. A lot of work I understand but do you want to figure it out.
Damn. I need to go and buy equipment. I will get back to you. I'm not giving up on the truck already 1300 down the drain. Thanks for your help bro. I'm tryin to rebuilt the transfer case too.
I think it might be the rear end because the transfer case is going to into 2hi,4hi,4lo,auto. With no issues in neutral with the truck running. The transmission is doin its job by engaging the gears from p to 1. Here an example of what mine truck is doing.... if you were driving your truck and you hit the gas pedal very hard then hit you brake very hard to come to a complete stop. Ok but when I hit the gas pedal lightly it's moves then it stops like that without me hittting the brakes.
