88gmc 2500 vandura

I recently inherited an 88 GMC 2500
vandura 5.7 l motor TBI carb the
motor will turn over and fire with
starter fluid but will not stay running I
can't figure out why the lights and
console and everything else won't
work I've checked fuses fuses are
fine The van has been sitting for
about 4 years in a very wet climate
anybody have any ideas can I bypass
the fuel pump I believe the thing will
run if I can get the fuel pump running
with power to it please help
