Can I change 4 x 4 into 2 wheel drive. By changing the tail shaft and drive shaft
The big question is why would you want too? NO, you need to change the transmission to a 2WD unit, that will eliminate the transfer case, then remove the front driveline and find the correct length rear driveshaft. Then you need to deal with all of the 4X4 control lights that no doubt will turn on.
Only way I know of is to remove front drive axle for the front wheels. I've heard of people doing this when the front locks up due to the bad 4x4 hubs.
I have the opposite question I have a 03 Yukon 4x4 and tranny went out. Found a used 2 wheel drive tranny. Can I swap tail and transfer case from one to the other and it work or is there internal work that needs to be done
It's internal, you will have too disassemble the tranny to get to the tailshaft.
