continuous ticking sound & check engne light on

my GMC 2000 envoy jimmy suv 4 x 4 started making a continuous fast ticking
sound
in the past couple weeks & now my check engine light came on, what could be
the issue & what to look for & fix thank you Note not sure if SLE or Diamond as
have had many & get them mixed up :)

it seemed to start after I changed over my tires to winter tires. I always maintain my vehicle mechanically. :) No noise from engine sitting in drivers side but if I have window open can hear the ticka ticka sound in idle & driving ,argh Any & all advise welcome thanks as doing Christmas shopping & won't go cant go anywhere until I know what the issue is to fix & tapped so someone please help me figure this out thanks :) :)
