Could it be my battery or is it major?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Went to my car and remote did not work. Had to use the
key in the remote. I get in and nothing. Wont start I assume
dead key fob. I inserted it in the arm rest and still nothing
but the vents blow air but no lights anywhere. Door locks
nor windows working. So I change the battery in the fob
and same thing. Id hate to tow to a mechanic if just the
battery under the hood. But im wondering is that the issue
or do i need to take it to a shop?

Sounds like the battery under the hood is dead. If it's original to the vehicle it's definitely time for a new one. Have it load tested to be sure. Do you have a spare key fob you can try? Hope that helps! Jim

Try a jump start. Then visit your local auto parts store and have them load test the battery under the hood. If it fails the load test, replace the battery. Some stores will do the replacement for free. Hope that helps! Jim
