I have a 2005 Acura MDX touring, with nearly 83K miles on it. There is a
ticking sound in the engine when it idles. I have never used premiium gas.
It is not a valve problem. It seem to run fine and there is no noice when I am
on the road. What else could it be?
Most likely a lifter or what they call an HLA, they do go bad, you can try draining the oil and then before you refill it add 1 quart of Marvel Mystery Oil the fill to specs, if it is going to work it will within 50 miles if it still clicks then the HLA that is making the noise will have to be replaced, a lot of people will replace them all if they have to go in and have any work done cause of one starts it is not long before another will start. HTH
The owners manual says premium gas.
