Drivers side wiper parks halfway and overshoot windshield

Asked by Sep 09, 2016 at 12:47 PM about the 2002 GMC Sonoma SLS Ext Cab 2WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When it was raining the other day, the driver's side wiper started stopping higher than the passenger and started overshooting the windshield - stopping higher and going farther as they were on.  It seems like it's making the 'full' trip, but just that the start/stop point is now about halfway up the windshield instead of at the bottom.
Not sure if I pulling off the wiper and putting it back on will fix the problem or if it's the motor/transmission?  The wipers have also been not working on occasion and I think that I'll need to replace the control module to fix that problem...but one thing at a time....

You need to take off or loosen up the wiper arms. Run wipers and let park. Position arms where that should be in the park position and tight or reinstall the arms
