Depends on type or color of the smoke.If dark grey and burns your eyes it's caused by fuel not being properly burned due to engine not operating properly. If it's light grey and disappears it might be coolant leaking into the combustion chamber. (possible bad head gasket) or light grey that doesn't disappear. It's engine oil being leaked into combustion chamber (possible bad piston rings)
