i contacted a dealer with a listing and they toldme they dont give prices over the internet or phone yet you listed it please explain
A lot of times dealers advertise this way so that they can get you into the door. Once you are in there, they know it is much easier to get you to purchase a car. It's an old school sales technique.
They listed it on CarGurus. CarGurus is only a listing site and has NOTHING to do with how vehicles are listed or priced. I would avoid the dealership you spoke to as they sound somewhat dishonest.
It's the dealer's choice whether to advertise price or not and it's your choice whether to play that game or not. FYI this has nothing to do with a dealer's honesty or not, it's just another advertising strategy. FWIW I always advertise my price as I find it's a waste of time and money not to, but that's just one man's opinion.
If you can't get a price over the phone then I suspect the dealerships wants to play games and this is usually dishonest. I would move along to another dealer.
Sorry but I disagree. If a real estate agent advertises a house without a price does that make them dishonest? Marketing strategy and honesty are not a valid correlation.
If you can't get a price over the phone walk away. This does not apply if you have a trade-in. Trade-in needs to be appraised before price can be determined.
