How much money to fix the p1700?

I brought a 2014 Maxiam. On the highway home it
started stalling and wouldn’t pick up . I took it to auto
zone for a diagnostic. There were no lights on saying
something was wrong nothing ! The diagnostic read
p1700 cvt! How much to fix that. And being thow I
brought the car from a dealer I’m covered wit the
lemon law right . I haven’t had the car 24 hours .

Yes you are covered and I would return the car post hast . Have a police officer present to make a report when you are there returning the car. Ask for the return of you funds and when the car is repaired you will return for purchase. It may just be a simple change of the transmission speed sensor ( #2 sensor circuit.) however there could also be an internal problem with the magnets on the transmission shaft this sensor utilizes to send signal to the ecm that indicates speed. It could also be the #1 circuit and that would require removing the transmission if needing to be replaced.
The Lemon Law does not cover used vehicles!! You may, however, be allowed to return the vehicle under your State's cooling off period law. Most States give you a limited amount of time to change your mind about a major purchase such as a vehicle or house. In New Jersey, for example, it's three days. Notify the Dealer by email that you've changed your mind about the vehicle and wish to return it for a full refund! Do this immediately! They will balk, but if the law is on your side, don't back down! Your local police department should be able to tell you what the law is in your State. This vehicle was obviously traded in by the previous owner because it has a transmission problem! You don't want it!! Good luck to you, hope that helps!! Jim

Js08016 is correct when it comes to Florida once you sign on the dotted line it is yours. With that said short of a transmission shop that will most likely tell you you need a new transmission or rebuilt one. I would replace the #2 speed sensor and check for any wiring problems going to it. Its not expensive part $12.00 on amazon and is removed with one bolt after disconnecting the wire harness.This is just to easy to do not to first before anything else. 5 minute job at best.
Never buy a Nissan with a CVT!! Odds are your transmission is shot. Maybe (just maybe) your Nissan dealer will fix it under extended warranty. If so sell it immediately and never buy another Nissan again.

F-O-R is correct about buying a Nissan with a CVT, but that's a bit late if it was advise. Try the #2 speed sensor who knows.... it should be ruled out and could cause this problem if faulty

Same thing is happening with my Granddaughter’s car (2017 Maxima). Did u ever find out what it was?
