EPC light coming on during aggressive acceleration but i do NOT LOOSE POWER, THERE ARE NO OTHER LIGHTS THROWN ON AND IT DOES NOT GO INTO LIMP MODE.
2014 VW jetta SE with the EA888 TSI 1.8 litre
4cylinder engine with direct injection, variable valve
timing, intercooler and turbocharged engine. After
getting the APR stage 1 up tune, I started getting
the EPC light to come on. It happens under
aggressive acceleration and only when up shifting.
However, it sometimes won't come on for a week
1st a time...sometimes 3 times in the same day.
1 other thing...despite what a poster named
"Thamir" says... When my EPC light comes on,
ONLY IT COMES ON....NO OTHER LIGHTS COME
ON AND I HAVE ZERO LOSS IN POWER. After you
turn the car off and then back on...the light is off
again. I'm not looking ANY performance and like I
said no ther lights come on with it. The dealership
has my car after this happened and NO DTC codes
were thrown...nothing...They had only a few
hunches to go on but they said they have never
seen that light (epc) come on just by itself. They
wish it had because it might give them a starting
place to begin in finding out what's going on. I have
never had ANY light EVER come on until I got the
APR up tune flash. APR has been really great in
trying to help trouble shoot this issue. They even
worked up 2 different beta flashes of the Stage 1
93 octane flash to try. I'm going in this Thursday to
have this done. The biggest VW-AUDI-PORSCHE
car dealership Also is the APR dealership so I am
able to get all this stuff checked out with APR
working hand in hand with the VW car dealership.
The 2 being under the same roof is super
convienent. If neither of these 2 flashes help, then
I'll be back to the drawing board.
Surely, I can't be the only one with a 2014 or newer
vw, with the 1.8 TSI engine that has had this EPC
light issue. I have read of others with similar issue
but no one with ONLY THE EPC LIGHT. Despite
what the poster -Thamir- states, he is wrong...Let
me stress...NO OTHER LIGHTS ARE COMING
ON....JUST THIS EPC LIGHT AND NO LIMP MODE
AND NO POWER LOSS, AND STRANGEST OF ALL,
NO CODES ARE BEING RECORDED. As soon as I
cut the Car off, the light mysteriously resets?? but
never are there codes thrown.
Any feedback would be great. I'm hoping some
enthusiast or vw employee will read this and know
exactly what the cause is for this problem.
