First of all be careful, the door is pretty heavy. All you have to do is pry the horse shoe metal clip at each end of the strut away from the strut using a small flat head screwdriver. Then slide them outward towards the respective ends. The strut should pull off the pivot pins with little effort. To replace them is even easier, Just align the pivot pin with the socket in the strut and give them a good push, they should pop right in. Remember to install the new strut the with same orientation as the one you removed.
