letters D, R, N, P all make sense what is E?

when I put the car into drive, letters D, R, N, P all make sense  what is E, and why does it light up?

"E" is the Economy mode. What that means is the transmission starts off in 2nd gear rather than 1st and shifts sooner. The idea is that it will save gas on accelerating from a stop.
