Question type: Car Selling & Trading In

Hello
I am in the market for an Outback and have found a 2014 Outback 2.5i Premium in the Asheville, NC area asking price of $15,999. It has 58,500 miles. They are the second owner and originally bought new in Nashville, TN then traded in. They've owned it for 1.5 years and are selling b/c he needs a truck.
My question is related to the CVT and the possible issues I've read about in CarGurus from other Subaru owners/information.  The current owner said they have not had any Major repairs done.  Will the CVT be a possible problem for this car?
Thanks
JR

Everything about the car is a possible problem just like any other mechanical device. The CVT is at the top of the list of possible problems, excessive oil consumption is the number two possibility. If you buy it be sure and do a CVT fluid change. Subaru is warrantying the transmission to 100,000 miles but you should check with them for details.

@ F_O_R Thanks! The CVT fluid change is a great suggestion. I understand that all vehicles will have problems. Did Subaru change the CVT at a certain year? Thanks

There have been some changes but there are still a lot of complaints on newer cars. There are several CVT threads here on CG's.
