My car surges when I get to 40 miles per hour and then it stops once I reach 50 miles per hour

Might be transmission related with the overdrive not engaging completely. Turn the O/D off and see if it goes away.

Turning the overdrive off kind of makes a difference but I can still kind of feel the shutter my car has 119000 miles on it and I don't believe the transmission filter has ever been changed do you think that could be the cause?
