I hit a piece of tar sticking out of a pothole - it was a very hard hit...I got to where I was going and checked the car. The front tire had a bulge so I called AAA. They sent me to NTB who replaced the tire and moved it to the rear. The front end was aligned and the car does not feel right. The steering wheel is slightly off center, the front feels like it is not holding the road sometimes and it just feels off. The car is a 2013 Acura RDX with 8700 miles and was perfect before this. What do I do? Do I take it to the dealer for a really good check?

Sounds like they messed up your alignment, did they use same brand of tire that you have on the car or is it a different brand? Take it some place that can do a 4 wheel alignment and will take the time to get it right. Most Dealer have flat rate mechanics that want to just do what is on the work order and move on to the next rig to make money. So do a little review searching on shops in your area then take it to one that has good reviews.

It is the same tire brand and model that was on the car and they put it on the back. The front seems to be vibrating a bit at lower speeds. This car took a really hard hit - it even flipped open the sunglasses holder in the ceiling! I am afraid there was other damage they did not see. I wonder if a trip to my Acura dealer is in order. This car is not even a year old.

It may have bent the rim, if you feel comfortable with the dealer then by all means go there, but make sure you talk with the service writer or service manager about what had happened so they can voice your concerns to the Tech that will work on it, and make sure they test drive it after the repairs are done. It would be better if you went along but they might not let you.

I agree with tennisshoes, the rim is probably bent, but you also said the vibration seems to be coming from the front. Yes, have it inspected again. The alignment will tell if there is anything bent if nothing looks that way via the naked eye.

Thank you both! The new tire on old rim is in the back now...the front feels "off". I will take it to my dealer to check it out. It was a hellava crack...

Update: i went to my Acura dealer...rim was bent and now replaced...they said as soon as they heard tire was moved to back they knew the rim must have an issue. There was a definite vibration - even one of my carpoolers mentioned it the day after the hit! The 4 wheel alignment is done. Car drives the way I remember it. Taking a short trip on the highway tomorrow, but it feels right. Thank you for your advice.
