I'm guessing that the green light is an indicator that some feature was selected or turned on. Can you click it on and off? The word above it says "TOW". When a 4x4 is towed for any reason, it's best to disconnect the drive train. Check your owners manual and see what it says about towing. Or call the dealer. I'm curious too. I hope this helps.

If the green light comes on when you press the "tow" button it's for when you're towing something behind the vehicle such as a camper, boat, or trailer. It changes the shift points of the transmission and, I believe, prevents the transmission from shifting into overdrive. It should not be used for everyday driving. Only if you're towing something.
