My 2000 Dakota was low on gas & the "check gauges" light came on, now it won't run, what happened?

Added some gas, it will start & run
with a lot of gas peddle but will not

First thing would be to get the codes read. Find out what sensor(s) has failed or gone out of range. It is most likely a coincidence that you were low on fuel when this happened.
