How do i compress the sterring wheel to the column on a 1987 pontiac grand am tilt wheel?

I took off my steering wheel on a 1987 Pontiac Grand AM to change the ignition switch. I
put it all back together right, but now I can't get the steering wheel back on do I need a
tool or kit to put my steering wheel back on to the column? there is a big gap between the
two/ Thanks George

if you did not need to force it off yyou will not need to force it back on are you shur you are putting it on right it will not go on if there is a woodruff key that is not in its valley way
