Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Please Help
I have an 82 Trans am and I need to replace the driver’s side window motor. The problem I have is the window is stuck in the up position and I can’t get the top part of the door panel loose. Can someone please tell me how to remove the door panel with the window up or is there a way to manually lower the window.

the top of door panel hooks over the top of the door, just push up hard on panel to release it.

Usually you want the windows up when removing the panel, so the glass is out of the way of the door's interior - and the process of removing the panel usually means removing the window controls too. There's no real secret to removing these panels, just be sure all screws and/or bolts are out of the panel, be sure to check armrest area and along bottom edge of panel for hidden ones. Once those are out you'll have some plastic press-in rivets around the perimeter of the panel, you'll need a pry bar on those but pry gently - if any break off, no biggie as you can get those at most any parts store. Any window controls will have to be disconnected as you tilt out panel. As CJRAS mentioned, the top of the panel often just hooks over edge of door frame. Tilt it out from the bottom and then pop it up once you're sure everything is disconnected.
