Why is the dome light staying on in my 2003 Taurus and the door ajar light is on when all the doors are shut?

My 1997 F-250 does the same thing... It's the sensor in the door or in the drivers kick panel is either shorting out or not connecting properly...

Right, it's the sensors that are located at the door striker area. Spray some WD40 into those areas and open and close the doors a few times until the dome light goes off. The sensors get dirty over time.
